1/4 c. chocolate pieces (semi-sweet), melted
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
APPLE CHEESE BATTER
2 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. chopped nuts
4 oz. or 1/2 c. chocolate pieces (semi-sweet)
3 med. Pennsylvania apples, peeled, shredded & drained
FROSTING
2 tbsp. butter or margarine, softened
1/4 c. chocolate pieces (semi-sweet), melted
1 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp. milk
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Grease and flour 8 inch baking pan. In bowl, add melted butter and chocolate pieces,
sugar, flour, baking powder, vanilla and eggs. Beat well. Stir in nuts. In another bowl
make Apple Cheese Batter by combining all ingredients except apples, nuts, and chocolate
pieces. Blend until smooth. Stir in apples, nuts and chocolate pieces. Place chocolate
batter in prepared baking dish and top with Apple Cheese Batter. Bake in preheated 375
degree oven for about 25 minutes. Cool slightly and frost with Chocolate Cheese Frosting.
Frosting: In bowl, combine all ingredients blending until smooth.
